Her first photoshoot, she told me she was shy and inexperienced, I think she lied.

This is one of the last shots we took in what was a very long photography session. It was the first time I was using off camera lights and I had no idea what I was doing - I placed the light above the subject and asked her to look into it.

These are shots from our first session together, we went to Lužánky Park in Brno and took a couple of pictures at the end of autumn. At that time Anna was studying theater and you could tell she was very comfortable in front of the camera. I was used to working with less experienced models - Anna was quick to notice and gave me a wake up call: "how about you do your job taking pictures and let the posing to me."

These were shot at the beginning of the summer and I tried to capture the relaxed feel that comes with it. I really like the hat and we tried to incorporate it in almost all of our shots. This time around I didn't tell Anna how to pose - i had learned my lesson.

Off camera lights, big softboxes. A friend invited me over to his place, borrowed me his equipment and let me shoot so I could get more experience with off camera lighting setups - we had a blast.
Iva was always good at pulling off the "innocent bunny rabbit" look and i think it makes this shot in particular a lot more intimate.

A friend was commissioned by a designer to take shots of several clothes and he needed a helping hand with the camera gear. I took the opportunity to snap a couple of shots of the models.

Same friend's house, same equipment, different model. We used to work with Monika and it took us a while to convince her to pose for us - well worth it, she did great!
This particular setup was done by my friend, the modeling light was turned on and Monika was focused on his instructions, too busy to see me taking the shot.

One of the reasons I like natural light over off camera lights is that it's unpredictable. The more you shoot on the streets the more you develop a sense for when these moments will happen.
She was annoyed and I knew she would turn around and walk away. I was lucky enough to have the camera on the right settings to capture this shot.
My first ever shot to be published in a magazine. He needed a picture for a financial magazine to go alongside the piece they wrote on him. While I was taking my set-up shots to get the proper light and camera settings he pointed at the camera and said "so is this the thing you'll be using for the entire session?"
We ended up using this shot because it went very well with the article in which he was encouraging young entrepenours to go out there and follow their dreams.
We were on the train coming back from the seaside. I liked that the blue behind her accentuated her eyes even more, the overblown highlights on her cheek made her skin look more pale then it really was and the way the lines framed the subject.
We were on the train coming back from the seaside. We were all tired, had no place to sit, it was very hot and very loud. In all of this discomfort it seemed like she had found her happy place - this and I'm a sucker for collarbones and bright colors.
I find that the best shots are taken when people are unaware of the photographer. When you think that nobody is watching that's when you sing and dance your heart out.
I like how the reflection in the glass guides you towards her eyes, how things are barely visible through the glass but you can clearly see her look and that she is thinking of something.
Self-portrait, fixed 50mm lens, F1.8, manual focus. I guess this is what happens when you're bored - it took several tries until I took a shot where I had properly focused the eye.
Another one of those shots that just happens. We had gotten off the train and were waiting for a friend to pick us up. The light hit the cigarette smoke at the right angle to capture the contrast between the smoke and the face.
